Bhaktapur or the City of Devotees is rich in medieval art and architecture from the ninth century onwards. It is around none miles from Kathmandu and in the centre Durbar Square can be found. This is home to temples and the Palace of 55 Windows, built by King Bhupatindra Malla. He also built a temple that stands on terraces with large figures of elephants, griffins, goddesses and lions. This is an excellent example of the Pagoda style.

Patan is a city of festivals, fine art and sculpture. It’s been home to the majority of Nepal’s best-known artists and craftspeople. Today, visitors can browse shops and markets for traditionally made crafts and artworks. For food lovers, every type of cuisine is available in the Thamel district, as well as specialist shops for mountaineering and other outdoor pursuits.
