The birthplace of the game we know and love, Rugby is set in the Warwickshire countryside close to the intersection of the M1 and M6 motorways. Arranging car hire in Rugby is ideal for exploring both the town and the wider area and will help you to make the most of your stay in the Midlands.

This compact and busy town is well worth a visit and has more to offer than its historic links to the game of rugby...

Webb Ellis is cited as the founder of the game that became rugby and today you can visit the Rugby Football Museum named in his honour. Packed with rugby memorabilia, rugby history, and even a comprehensive story explaining how the famous oval-shaped ball developed, it's a fascinating place to visit.

The town centre is home to the usual selection of high street shops, bars, restaurants and pubs and there is good parking for visitors. Somewhere you may wish to visit is Lewis Gallery Exhibitions at Rugby School, a home for local artists.

The Rugby Art Gallery and Museum is also in the town centre and showcases work by artists such as Bridget Riley, LS Lowry and Barbara Hepworth, all well-known names from the 20th and 21st centuries.

Guy Fawkes also has links to the area. The original plot to blow up Parliament was hatched by Robert Catesby when he joined up with soldiers, including Guy, to launch the audacious attack in the Old Lion Inn at Dunchurch just outside the town.

Brandon Marsh Nature Reserve, Coombe Country Park and Draycote Water Country Park are all excellent for walks and situated on the outskirts of the town.

Birmingham (BHX), East Midlands (EMA) and London Luton (LTN) airports are the nearest to the town, reached in a little over an hour along the M1 or M6 motorways. You can pick up your hire car at these airports or at downtown locations in Rugby. To find the best price on car rental in Rugby, use TravelSupermarket's search tool to the left.
