Roughly equidistant between the Scottish cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow is Falkirk, one of the prettiest towns in the country. Arrange car rental in Falkirk and enjoy the convenience of getting around town, as well as the chance to see much more of bonny Scotland.

Book Falkirk car hire with TravelSupermarket and enjoy hassle-free adventures in this diverse corner of the UK...

One of the most striking and popular images of Falkirk is of a massive steel structure, something akin to a giant corkscrew, that sits in pleasant green hills just 10 minutes west of the town centre. It's the Falkirk Wheel - the world's only rotating boat lift. Designed to restore the historical link between the Union Canal and the Forth and Clyde Canal, this feat of modern engineering opened in 2002 and has rightly become a star attraction in the central Lowlands of Scotland.

It's not the only attraction beside the water in Falkirk though. The recently unveiled and already-iconic Kelpies sit beside the canal north of Falkirk. These giant sculptures of folkloric water horses are truly breath-taking and form part of a wider regeneration project called The Helix, which offers plenty more for curious visitors. You can take a tour inside the Kelpies, which, from a distance, appear to be rising from the landscape. It's a sight to behold and certain to encourage more eager holidaymakers to tour the nation by canal boat.

But don't rush straight past Falkirk. This historic town is crammed with things to see and do and it offers a typically warm Scottish welcome.

Presided over by Falkirk Steeple, the town centre is a great shopping destination. It's littered with pretty churches and buildings of the past. Travel a few minutes from the heart of Falkirk to reach Callendar House and Park. This striking mansion looks like it belongs in 16th century France instead of modern Falkirk. Take a tour to hear tales of its illustrious past and spend time sampling food from the 1825 Kitchen.

Collect your hire car from a convenient location in downtown Falkirk and begin your explorations of Scotland from this hospitable town. You can find a great deal on car hire in Falkirk using TravelSupermarket's search tool.
