Flights to Andorra

Andorra can be accessed year round by air despite many thinking of it as a ski destination...

There are regular flights to the nearby cities of Toulouse, Perpignan, Girona and Barcelona. The flight time is between one-and-a-half and two hours from the UK. Ryanair, easyJet, British Airways and Jet2 all operate services into these airports, with flights running from London, Manchester, Birmingham and other UK airports.

Thomson and Crystal also run charter flights during the ski season (from late December to March).

You cannot book a direct flight to Andorra, but you can reach the city by flying to various airports in neighbouring Spain and France. Barcelona, Girona and Perpignan are all within a two-and-a-half hour drive of Andorra, while Toulouse is three hours away and the Spanish city of Lleida is two hours away by road.

Both Barcelona and Girona have a regular bus service to Andorra, as do Toulouse, Perpignan and Lleida. A single bus journey can take up to four hours to reach the city and will cost you between €50 and €100 (around £40-£80) for a return ticket.

With taxi fares from the airports to Andorra la Vella costing hundreds of euros, a more sensible option if possible is to hire a car. Many travellers will sadly avoid this delightful part of the world for two reasons – accessibility and price. And while it can’t be denied that a mountainous country without an airport presents a challenge to most holidaymakers, the idea that Andorra caters only to wealthy travellers is something of a myth.

At 1,023m above sea level, Andorra la Vella is Europe’s highest capital, meaning there are spectacular views from many of the hotels. Consider a stay in the busy capital if the luxury hotels on the slopes don’t appeal.
