The national carrier in Belgium is Brussels Airlines. It flies into the international airport (BRU) from airports around the UK including London Heathrow, Manchester, Bristol, Birmingham, Newcastle and Edinburgh. Additional flights from Heathrow are operated by British Airways, while Gatwick is served by flights with easyJet. You can also reach Brussels Airport on flights operated by bmi regional from Newcastle and East Midlands airports.

Ryanair is the sole carrier operating from the UK into Charleroi, which is one hour south of the city centre. It flies in from Manchester and Edinburgh airports.

Flights take around one hour from the southeast of the UK and up to one-and-a-half hours from other UK departure points. All flights are non-stop.

Two main airports serve the city of Brussels and getting to and from either one is a cinch...

Brussels International Airport is the main air hub for the Belgian capital. It is 30 minutes by road from the city centre.

There’s a railway station at the airport. Train journeys take 15-20 minutes and cost 8.50 euros per single adult fare. Bus services between the airport and the centre can take twice as long but cost about half as much. A taxi will set you back about 45 euros.

South Charleroi Airport is further from the centre of Brussels. A train and bus combination will have you in Brussels in 90 minutes for a little over 14 euros each. An airport shuttle bus costs 14 euros and gets you into central Brussels in an hour. But because of the distance involved, a taxi fare could run close to 100 euros.
