Flights to Bermuda

Idyllic Bermuda is not the easiest place to fly to from the UK, but there are limited air services available.

The only flights from Europe are the daily, non-stop British Airways services from London’s Gatwick airport, which take around seven-and-a-half hours to reach Bermuda.

Otherwise, the only real option is to fly to the USA or Canada on connecting flights through New York with American Airlines and Delta, via Boston with American or through Toronto with Air Canada. The extra journey adds at least five hours to any journey and may involve an overnight stay in the States.

Flights to Bermuda from UK airports land at L.F. Wade International Airport (BDA) in the east of Bermuda. And as it’s a small island – it takes less than an hour to travel the length of it by road – getting to your hotel from the airport won’t take long.

To make the journey, a hotel shuttle service can be a good choice. It might not be the cheapest option, but it may prove better value that a taxi and will be a lot more convenient than the public buses.

If you do want to hop aboard a local bus with luggage, services run frequently from the airport to various island destinations, costing up to five Bermudian dollars per one-way journey (about £3.50).

A taxi ride between the airport and the capital, Hamilton, for example, costs $35 (about £25).
