The three main gateways into Hungary (Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport - BUD; Debrecen International Airport - DEB; and Heviz–Balaton Airport - SOB - formerly Sarmellek Airport) are all well served by public transport.

Budapest Airport welcomes the majority of British visitors into Hungary. From here you can hop on a bus to reach the nearest Metro station and complete your journey on this efficient and cheap service. You could also make use of the AirportShuttle-Minibus service, which is a shared shuttle that will take you to the door of your hotel. Car hire in Budapest is an excellent option if you plan to see more than the central core of the city (which you can do on foot). You can pick up a pre-booked rental car when you arrive at the airport and drive yourself to your hotel.
