Taxis, bus and coach services and cheap Dublin car hire are the best ways to reach central destinations from Dublin Airport (DUB).

A one-way taxi fare to Dublin city centre costs in the region of 25 euros. A cheaper but slower option is to travel on local buses, which run frequently and cost a few euros per person. The airport coach services are excellent, with an adult return ticket costing from 10 euros. The Airlink 747 service is popular with arriving passengers and it drops off at convenient stops such as the central bus station, Trinity College and Temple Bar, and a number of city hotels.

Cheap weekend getaways are rarely more wild and wonderful than in Dublin, the capital of the Republic of Ireland. Huddled around the mouth of the River Liffey, on the east coast of this green and lovely land, Dublin never falls out of fashion with those looking for short breaks packed with history, heritage, culture, sport, shopping, art and plenty of good ol’ Irish craic.

From mates’ breaks on a budget to luxury getaways for two, Dublin caters for a mixed crowd thanks to its varied and welcoming cityscape. There are reminders of the past in the Medieval Quarter (cathedrals and castles anyone?), the Georgian Quarter and the Antique Quarter, where bargain hunters seek ancient treasures.

The vibrancy of the Tech Quarter, the Cultural Quarter and the Dame District, however, remind visitors that Dublin is a thoroughly modern destination. There’s nothing old and stuffy about a night out in the Cultural Quarter’s Temple Bar area (though your head might feel a bit stuffy the following morning).
