Kuala Lumpur, also known as KL, is the cosmopolitan and highly modern capital city of Malaysia. The city is home to the Malaysia Formula 1 Grand Prix and is famous for its Petronas Towers, colonial architecture and almost unlimited shopping.

Malaysia is a cultural microcosm of Asia and it's easy to see both Chinese and Indo influence. To the south of the city centre is Brickfields, also known as Little India, a great place for finding artisan gifts and delicious food. Chow Kit to the north of the centre is another decent shopping area as well as a popular place to find accommodation.
Cultural highlights include the National Museum, The National Art Gallery and the National Museum of the Islamic Arts. Visitors with children will enjoy the Berjaya Times Square Theme Park, an indoor theme park, as well as the Aquaria KLCC, a vast aquarium in the heart of the city. For a sample of the Malaysian rainforest, visitors can head to the Bukit Nanas Forest Reserve, a forest found in the centre of the city.
The Petronas Towers and KL Tower are found within the commercial centre of the city, The Golden Triangle, which is also a great place for shopping and where you'll find the famed Central Market. The Old Town is the place to view colonial architecture, especially on Merdeka Square as well as where the city's world famous Chinatown is.
It's also worth leaving the city to explore the rest of this beautiful country. Highlights include the Cameron Highlands and Penang which all help to make more of a cheap flight to Kuala Lumpur.
