Flights to Morocco

There are no direct flights from Edinburgh (EDI), Glasgow (GLA) and Birmingham (BHX) to Morocco. The best option is to change at London.

In addition to scheduled flights, some tour operators offer direct charter flights to Agadir and Marrakech from Gatwick, Dublin and Manchester. The routes on offer change seasonally and services tend to be less frequent, but savvy travellers can take advantage of rock-bottom prices.

In general, flights from London to Morocco are cheaper from October to January (except Christmas and New Year). Prices shoot up during summer months – for example, travelling to Marrakech will cost you from £300 to over £400 for a round-trip ticket in July, but the same route can be less than £70 during the low seasons. It’s recommended to plan in advance and compare prices on TravelSupermarket to secure a cheap deal.

One of the cheapest ways (and certainly an adventurous way) to reach Morocco from the UK is catching a flight to Spain and then completing the journey by ferry. This is a great option if your local airport doesn’t offer direct flights to Morocco – instead, hop on a budget flight to Malaga or Gibraltar and catch a boat across the Straits.

Most ferries leave from Algeciras, which is linked to Malaga and La Linea near Gibraltar by bus. The journey takes just over two hours and ferries arrive in Tangier, which is well connected to the rest of the country by road, rail and air. Companies offering this service include Trasmediterranea, Balearia and FRS. You can also travel from Barcelona to Tangier with Grandi Navi Veloci and Grimaldi Lines.

British passport holders don’t need a visa to stay in Morocco for up to three months, but make sure your passport is stamped – some tourists have been delayed on their return journey over unstamped documents.
