Shopping around for cheap Majorca flights is simple – this is one of the Mediterranean’s most popular destinations, particularly among Brits, so the choice is enormous. Many UK airports have direct flights to Son Sant Joan Airport in Palma, the island’s capital, with a particularly wide selection of flights during the summer months.

Majorca itself is the largest of the Balearic Islands, sitting a little way off the east coast of Spain. You already know about its lovely beaches, but it also offers a picturesque interior and many layers of fascinating ancient history – not to mention fabulous food and wine.

Majorca isn't an expensive place to fly to, but prices do reflect its popularity as a summer destination, and are at their highest during July and August. Fierce competition prevents them rising too high, however, and a number of low-cost airlines are in the market too, including Norwegian and easyJet. Flying midweek, or choosing early or late departures, can help push the price down further.

If you’re not restricted to school holidays, try the cheaper shoulder seasons of spring and autumn. The weather is still very pleasant – regularly hitting the mid-twenties – and there are far fewer tourists.
