As with the other Canary Islands, it’s not difficult to find cheap flights to Fuerteventura, thanks to the island’s longstanding popularity with holidaymakers. There are plenty of flights to Fuerteventura Airport, near the capital Puerto del Rosario, throughout the year – particularly during the summer.

Fuerteventura is the second largest of the Canaries, and sits southwest of Lanzarote and to the east of Gran Canaria. Its proximity to Africa explains the weather, which remains warm throughout the year; and the colourful volcanic landscapes, wonderful beaches and surf explain why visitors keep coming back.

Just like its neighbours Lanzarote and Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura is a favourite summer holiday destination for Brits, and the school summer holidays in July and August are the busiest time. That's compounded by good wind conditions, which bring in keen windsurfers. Flight prices rise during this peak period, but a number of budget airlines fly from the UK to Fuerteventura, so there's plenty of scope to shop around for cheap deals. Low-cost carriers flying to Fuerteventura include easyJet and Vueling.

Fuerteventura has warm weather throughout the year, so if you’re not travelling with kids it's well worth planning your trip outside of peak season. Daytime temperatures can reach the early twenties even in January and December.
