Visitors to this part of Turkey will arrive at Antalya Airport (AYT). Flights from the UK take between four and five hours. During the summer flying season, from late March through to early November, you will find non-stop flights from many UK airports, with many of them linked to the big holiday companies such as TUI and Olympic Holidays and operating as charter flights.

In addition to these flights, easyJet flies in from Gatwick and Manchester, Pegasus has low cost flights from Gatwick and Stansted.

If these options don't suit your needs you can fly via Istanbul with Turkish Airlines from London, Birmingham and Manchester, and also via some European hubs such as Zurich and Dusseldorf with Swiss and Air Berlin.

During the winter months you will find very few flights operating, although the tour companies do offer a limited series of departures during this time. For fast connections at this time fly via Istanbul.

Once your plane touches down, you'll want to find the most hassle-free way to get to your accommodation. Here are your options...

A public bus service runs every half hour between the airport and Antalya city centre, located 13km away. If you are looking to travel to other Turkish cities, take the bus to the Antalya bus terminal and here you will find routes to most major cities. If you would prefer to travel by taxi, there is a rank located in front of the arrivals exit of all terminals.

A mixture of ancient and modern, the fabulous city of Antalya offers a variety of accommodation for every type of holidaymaker...

Culture hunters may want to base themselves close to the beautiful historical district of Kaleici. Here you will find mosques, Ottoman houses, Byzantine architecture and a Roman harbour.

Alternatively, sun seekers may prefer to book accommodation close to the beach. The resort of Belek will greet you with a pine-fringed coast and long sandy stretches. For sporty types, there are a number of golf courses, while others can enjoy lazy days spent in cafes and wandering around the gift shops of the resort.

Lara Beach is another popular resort you may wish to consider. With golden sand and a clear glistening sea, you can peacefully flop with nothing to disturb you but the gently lapping ocean. The Sultan Bazar shopping centre is within easy reach for those who get itchy feet.

For those who want both beaches and culture, the resort of Side is surrounded by a number of beaches, but you'll also be able to explore the ancient amphitheatre and temples.

Venturing further afield, unspoilt Cirali is about 90 minutes' drive from Antalya and will treat you to outstanding beaches, fantastic walking trails and the ruins of Olympos.
