London Gatwick is one of the UK’s major air transport hubs, with flights arriving from all over the UK, Europe and the rest of the world. It’s also one of easyJet’s main bases, so there are plenty of cheap flight options in and out. There are, for example, flights coming in up to four times a day from Glasgow (GLA) and Edinburgh (EDI) and three times a day from Belfast International (BFS).

Airlines such as Norwegian, Flybe, TUI and Aer Lingus all connect Gatwick to European holiday destinations, while long-haul flights are available with airlines such as British Airways, Cathay Pacific, and Emirates.

The region around London Gatwick and Brighton is a great base for exploring the cheery seaside towns of England’s south coast, the beauty of the South Downs National Park, and the capital. Everything is really well connected, meaning short and easy journeys between towns and attractions.

There are direct rail connections – taking no more than an hour to Brighton – with London Victoria, London Bridge, and also with London St Pancras International (about one hour 30 minutes) where you can directly connect with Eurostar trains to Paris and Brussels.

It’s about a one-and-a-half hour drive between Brighton and Folkestone, where you can cross to and from the continent via the Channel Tunnel or by ferry.

For passengers from within the EU, a valid passport is required for entry into the UK. Domestic fliers must carry a passport for ID. Travellers from the US and other countries may also require a visa – enquire before you travel to avoid any issues.
