A flight to Boston lands at Logan International Airport (BOS), a hub for flights from the UK and the rest of the world. The city also has three smaller airports: Norwood Memorial (OWD), Hanscom Field (BED) and Beverly Municipal (BVY). 

The only non-stop flights from the UK are from London Heathrow with British Airways, American Airlines, Delta and Virgin Atlantic. Connections to London are widely available and flights take around seven hours from the UK. Otherwise you could consider services with Aer Lingus via Dublin, available from many UK departure points. Icelandair is a good alternative with flights via the North Atlantic island from Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester and Glasgow.

Travelling into Boston from Logan International, passengers have a wide range of options that include bus services, taxis and even a water shuttle.

From all terminals, Blue and Silver Line buses take visitors to the North and South subway stations, from where you can connect to large parts of Boston quickly and cheaply. 

Water shuttles are a unique method of getting to and from the airport. Take the free shuttle buses from the terminals to Logan Boat Dock and hop aboard one of the shuttle services. It's not a cheap option, and you've still got to get to your hotel from the dock at the other end, but it sure is a fun way to kick off your holiday or city break in Boston. 

You can hop in a taxi and travel between the central areas of the city and the airport in less than 15 minutes, dependent on traffic. Many taxis operate a flat-rate between the two destinations, which includes payment for the tolls encountered. Though it's slightly more expensive than using public transport, travelling by taxi saves you the trouble of carting your luggage around on the subway and on and off shuttle buses.

The area of Back Bay is trendy, tree-lined and crammed with great hotels, while historic North End is a charming place to stay near the water.
