Sitting pretty on the south coast of Cyprus, Limassol is easily reached from either Larnaca Airport (LCA) near Larnaca in the east, or Paphos Airport (PFO) near the resort of Paphos in the west, following a flight time of around four hours from the UK.

Cyprus is a year-round destination that enjoys hot summers, pleasant spring and autumn tourist seasons and a mild winter. The mercury creeps up above 20C in April and May, peaking in the high twenties in July and August – at times pushing past 30C – and steadying to around 13C during winter.

Carnival; February/March: For 10 days Limassol enjoys the sounds and sights of the annual Carnival, held at the start of the Lent period before the Greek orthodox Easter. Colourful parades take to the streets and there is plenty of fun to be had for keen visitors.

Shakespeare Festival; June: While the Bard shares no known links with Limassol, this annual event is sure to please fans of William Shakespeare, with performances in the grand surroundings of the theatre of Kourion.

Wine Festival; September: Limassol has a thriving winemaking industry and this is celebrated at the end of the summer in the Municipal Garden of Limassol. You'll get a bottle of Cypriot wine and can watch grape crushing and dancing while savouring giant platters of local cuisine.
