This is a great year-round destination, although you might find the months of December to February just a touch cool for sunbathing, with average daytime temperatures at a little over 14C. Spring and autumn are warm and dry, while in the summer temperatures peak at just above 30C on average with hardly any rainfall.

Djerba TV Festival; April-May: There's a real buzz when this international event arrives on the island. There are a number of English screenings, and some great parties to be enjoyed.

Lag B'Omer Pilgrimage; May: Thousands of Jews make an annual pilgrimage to the El Ghriba Synagogue, near the capital. There are processions around the island, so you can expect hotels to be busier than normal.

Republic Day; July 25: This national day of celebration marks Tunisia gaining its independence from former colonial power France and involves fun public festivities.
