Compare Prague hotels

You’ll generally pay more to stay in Prague city centre, but there are some cheap hotels here if you know where to look. Consider apart-hotels, hostels or budget ‘pensions’ on the fringes of Prague 1 if saving cash is a priority. If you’re keen to stay central but still want to experience a more authentic side of Prague then the oasis of calm that is Kampa Island is also a great choice.

Separated from the Lesser Quarter by a narrow artificial stream, it’s a peaceful patchwork of gardens, mills and museums that’s a world away from the bustle of the city centre.

Travellers keen to experience the city’s cooler side should avoid the Old Town and head to the Vinohrady and Žižkov neighbourhoods. Well served by tram and metro lines, these edgy areas of Prague offer a chance to live like the locals while enjoying easy access to the city centre. There are a few of Prague’s best hotels here, but you’ll also find some of the cheapest accommodation in central Prague. Žižkov’s legendary nightlife scene in particular makes it a top choice for travellers with a penchant for partying.

Further out still, meanwhile, you’ll discover a succession of quiet neighbourhoods that play host to some unpretentious but excellent hotels. Karlín is well connected, packed with scrummy places to eat, and home to a good selection of boutique accommodation and budget apart-hotels. Another chilled and cheap Prague choice is Holešovice, which is within strolling distance of both Stromovka Park (the largest green space in the city) and Letná Park with its panoramic views of the river and Old Town.

Many of Prague’s best hotels offer eyebrow-raising deals outside the peak tourist season, so don’t be afraid to check out accommodation at the luxury end of the market if you’re travelling at a less popular time of year. The cluster of boutique-style hotels around Letná Park can prove a particularly low-priced yet luxurious base from which to explore the city. And out of season, you never know what you might be able to afford.
