Compare Nice hotels

The classic Nice experience involves staying along, or within a block or two of, the Promenade des Anglais in a sea-facing room or suite. This is where the majority of the five-star luxury hotels in Nice are located.

The finest – and most famous – Nice hotel is Le Negresco, a palace with a pink-domed roof. It is the place to be seen in Nice. Its celebrity-lined corridors contain a museum-worthy collection of artworks by the likes of Dalí and Moretti, plus mink bedspreads and a Baccarat chandelier.

There are no genuine resorts in Nice. The closest thing is Le Méridien Nice, another luxury residence on the Promenade, and complete with a spa, gym, pool and excellent restaurant. The nearest full-on resort to Nice is the members-only HAPIMAG in Antibes, a few miles east.

Vieux Nice (the Old Town) is the noisiest area in Nice once the sun sets, which makes it less ideal for hotels. There are some lovely hideaways, however, including converted convents and townhouses with roof gardens.

Vieux Nice is rarely cheap though. If you can, stay on its fringes – it’ll be quieter and cheaper.

Further inland begins an area known as Jean Medecin or ‘downtown’, the city’s original ‘new town’.

Reasonably priced and attractive, this district sits within convenient strolling distance of both the sea and the railway station. A swathe of accommodation is located here, including some excellent three-star Nice hotels.
