If you are looking for Delhi hotels with a touch of European style and luxury, you need to look at New Delhi. Founded by the British 100 years ago, New Delhi, as the name suggests, is the most modern part of the greater urban area. It extends for hundreds of square miles, and the boundary line between old and new is a little blurry. Wide avenues and well-planned neighbourhoods mean the hustle and bustle of older parts of Delhi is missing. Accommodation in New Delhi is mostly in four- and five-star hotels, with many offering terrific views across parkland and towards the elegant buildings of the capital.

Budget hotels and other mid-range accommodation can be found in the central districts of Delhi. The central area is a great spot to choose a hotel if you prefer to be at the heart of the local action, where busy market stalls and authentic neighbourhood restaurants grab your attention, while still being close to New Delhi and its attractions. Consider Paharganj, near the railway station, shopping district Karol Bagh, or Daryaganj, which lies inside the walled city of Shahjahanabad, or Old Delhi.
