As Turkey has grown in popularity as a tourism destination, so the quality of the country’s hotels has improved.

Much of Turkey’s Mediterranean and Aegean coastline is dotted with mega-resorts, but there are also a growing number of independent boutique hotels, charming guesthouses, and private villas available to hire.

There’s no shortage of five-star properties in Turkey’s biggest city, and Istanbul is the place to find some of the country’s best hotels. From gorgeous Ottoman Yalis (palaces) lining the banks of the river Bosphorus – such as the Four Seasons – to more architecturally modern newcomers located in the trendier areas of Beyoglu and Galata, Istanbul has more fancy hotels that you can shake a stick at.

In among Istanbul’s cultural highlights in the Sultanahmet area are the main international hotel chains, while Nisantasi’s glamorous hotels and designer shopping outlets serve fashionistas well.
