Holy Trinity Church is the final resting place for Shakespeare and his wife and is found just a few streets away from the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. The Falstaff Experience's Tudor World is an attraction based in one of Stratford's most haunted buildings, Shrieve's House barn. The museum takes visitors back to Tudor times, with exhibits showing life in 16th-century England.
Warwick Castle dates back to the 11th century and sits on the banks of the River Avon. In each part of Warwick Castle exhibits show something from different times in its history, from the gruesome plague which can be witnessed in the dungeon, to the lavish interiors of the Great Hall.
Stately homes: among the most popular stately homes in Warwickshire are Compton Verney, a beautiful mansion housing an art gallery, and Charlecote Park. Stoneleigh Abbey is not far from Kenilworth and is another excellent place to visit on a day out.
Atherstone, in the north of the county, is a busy market town and is the nearest town with hotels to Twycross Zoo. Twycross houses 1,000 animals, including a huge collection of primate species.
Coventry is a busy commercial city, as well as being the place with the greatest choice of night life, hotels and restaurants in the county. Sights in the city include the ruins of the cathedral bombed during the second world war. As the birthplace of the British cycle and motor industry, the city is the perfect host of the Transport Museum. The museum has 200 cycles, 100 motorcycles and 240 cars on display.
