Beach areas are some of the most popular, as many want to enjoy the great choice of quiet coves or wide family friendly stretches to play in the sun.

Alcudia area – in the north of the island this is one of the biggest resorts with villas all around the edge of town. It has a wide, gently shelving beach, lots of restaurants and is ideal for families. Nearby C’an Picafort is a quieter resort with an equally impressive beach.

Cala d’Or area – this resort in the south east of the island is both upmarket and family friendly. The beach is excellent, but you can also explore the many coves and smaller beaches nearby, such as S’Horta, Cala Egos and Cala Ferrera. Cala Mondrago is another beach friendly option in the area.

Pollensa area – tucked away in the north west of the island, Pollensa is a traditional Majorcan town with regular markets and good shopping. Villas are spread around the area, with many offering great views out to sea. Alternatively, try Cala San Vicente for its great beach.

Cala Fornells area – in the south west of Majorca and within easy striking distance of the capital Palma, you will find many villas dotted along the coastline towards Port d’Andratx.

Inland options – you can find many villas and “fincas” (converted farmhouses) away from the coastal areas. With a private pool, they can make a great holiday base – especially as many have stunning mountain views and sleepy locations.

We recommend car hire as the most efficient way of enjoying a villa holiday to Majorca. Picking up at the airport of Palma (PMI) is the easiest way to both reach your villa and to get around during your holiday, whether you want to take a daytrip to the beach or pop out for an evening meal. Many villa holidays come complete with vehicle rental; however do check out prices to ensure you are getting the best overall deal.

If you opt for a villa without car hire then you will need to ensure it has easy access to public transport or to a resort centre where you can at least buy provisions. You can arrange a transfer to your resort from the airport to make arriving and departing a breeze.

From lazy afternoons spent lying by your pool in the sun to high-octane adventures, Majorca really does have something for everyone.

Shopping – Majorca is a wealthy island and the shops of the capital reflect this. You’ll find high-end designer outlets, huge department stores and of course high street favourites such as Zara. Elsewhere, the numerous food markets and excellent supermarket shopping make it easy to enjoy your villa holiday. And why not pick up a local speciality such as the sweet pastry roll known as an ensaimada to take home as a gift.

Water sports – from huge water parks such as Aqualand at El Arenal to sailing, fishing, snorkelling in the clear waters around Cala Mondrago, water sports of all kinds are available here. You can even try your hand at paragliding along the clifftops of the north west coast.

Culture – explore the monastery at Valldemossa where Chopin lived and worked, and take a trip to nearby Deia, home to writer Rupert Graves. Marvel at the splendour of the imposing cathedral in the capital before getting lost in the old town while admiring the old Majorcan villas with their fine courtyards and tiling.

Entertainment – whether you want to club the night away or just enjoy a simple meal in a local restaurant, you are really spoiled for choice in Majorca. You can experience dinner shows such as the Pirates Adventure show, take a boat trip or just make your own fun with games, barbecues and dvds at the villa.
